Eclipsed

Richard had arranged to go to see the eclipse with his friend Jordi who has an apartment in Vilanova, just south of Barcelona and very near the path of totality. When he kindly invited us to join them we had no hesitation in accepting. It's a decision we will never regret. Witnessing a full eclipse of the sun is something I suppose few people will ever do and I now regard it as a highlight of my life. I'm unlikely to ever see another.
Either side of those memorable ninety seconds we were treated to a variety of architectural tours of Barcelona and Valencia by Richard and Jordi, whose knowledge of history, art, culture and architecture is remarkable. It was the ideal way to be led around these cities. And as if that wasn't enough he was the most perfect and generous host.
